Professor Dave Petley

Vice-President for Innovation at the University of Sheffield

Dave Petley took up the role of Vice-President for Innovation in January 2020 having previously been Vice-President for Research and Innovation. Before coming to Sheffield, he was Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and Enterprise at the University of East Anglia. Dave is a geographer and earth scientist with a strong interest in the development and support of research and innovation at national, regional and institutional levels. Dave provides strategic leadership to the University’s innovation, knowledge exchange, Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF) and regional engagement agendas.

Dr Lisa Mooney

Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation, Sheffield Hallam University

Dr Mooney has an academic background in the arts and social sciences, and extensive research and consultancy expertise in the fields of knowledge exchange, interdisciplinary collaboration and research impact.

Dr Mooney leads the development of the University’s research institutes and facilitates growth in research and innovation capacity and impact.

Yasmin Knight

Head of Regional Engagement at the University of Sheffield

Yasmin joined the University of Sheffield in 2014 and as Head of Regional Engagement is responsible for the University’s regional impact. Yasmin brings partners together to enable collaboration, prosperity and growth which are key parts of the University’s duty as a civic and anchor institution.  

A graduate member of the Institute of Export, Yasmin had previously gained over 10 years’ experience in international trade in manufacturing industries. She used this experience prior to joining the University to lead a number of regional enterprise support programmes assisting both business start-ups and existing businesses to grow and innovate over a period of ten years.

Alex Prince

Head of Knowledge Exchange at Sheffield Hallam University

Alex leads the Knowledge Exchange Team in the Research and Innovation Office. Alex is accountable for a wide range of services, including economic development, commercialisation and IP, Innovate UK applications and ERDF projects.

Eleanor Edey

Regional Partnerships Development Officer at the University of Sheffield

Eleanor is Regional Partnerships Development Officer within the Partnerships and Regional Engagement department of the University of Sheffield. Her role involves meeting with local businesses to consult on the many ways they can work with the University. Eleanor will help initiate the conversations and links that grow into strong, mutually beneficial partnerships between business and academia. Eleanor’s responsibilities also include being part of the Sheffield Innovation Programme (SIP).

Bryony Price

Communications Officer at the University of Sheffield

Bryony joined the University of Sheffield in 2019 and is part of the Partnerships and Regional Engagement department. Bryony is responsible for delivering MD Club communications and promoting the MD Club brand. Prior to joining the University of Sheffield, Bryony worked in Organisational Development at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.

Peter Hough

Project Support Officer at the University of Sheffield

Peter joined the University of Sheffield in 2013 and is part of the Partnerships and Regional Engagement department. Peter supports the University’s regional engagement activities including the MD Club. He is also responsible for the operational management of the University’s Kroto Innovation Centre. Prior to joining the University of Sheffield, Peter worked as a marketing copywriter for a Sheffield based SEO company.

Sally Nicholls

Business Development Administrator at Sheffield Hallam University

Sally joined Sheffield Hallam in 2019 and provides professional services support to the Research and Innovation Service. Her work involves enabling effective business engagement with the university, fostering relationships between business and academia and enabling quality opportunities for engagement.
